SAMHAIN
The End of Harvest
& the Beginning of the Dark Half of the Year
THEMES

Samhain marks the end of harvest and the beginning of the darker time of the year. It is believed that this marked the time when the veil between the living world & the world of the dead was at it’s most thin. Celebrations would involve setting a place at the dinner table for members of the family who had passed, or making food & drink offerings to the dead, the faeries or mythological creatures & spirits.
Bonfires were lit, jack-o-lanterns were made, noise-makers & fireworks were set off, all in the name of warding off the spirits & the dead.
